Production Lead
Essential Skills and Responsibilities
Supervising assigned departmental operations to ensure production quality is up to company standards and performing regular quality control checks.
Fostering, developing, and maintaining teamwork amongst department employees.
Ensuring employee workflow and operations are effective and all employees are properly using the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and are compliant with food safety standards/ regulations.
Conducting sanitation checks before production and coordinating with the sanitation department if any issues are found.
Identifying potential issues or concerns for department-related machinery. Resolve any issues related to department related machinery and coordinate with the Maintenance and Sanitation department if necessary.
Conducting checks on, including but not limited to, actuators, boilers, compressors, food safety inspection equipment, hot water pumps, pipe connections, and sensors to ensure full functionality up to company specified standards.
Collecting product samples/ product waste samples for testing and coordinating with Quality assurance department. Managing and coordinating with the raw milk operator and pH operator to ensure raw milk/ pH levels are safe and adequate for production.
Confirming all production and packaging materials/equipment is available for daily production and packaging operations. Visually inspecting and manually checking products and packaging for defects, and removing defected products and package products.
Assisting in scheduling of assigned department employees based on production needs. Ensuring adequate staffing for daily production and immediately contacting the plant supervisor if there is a lack of staffing.
Utilizing RedZone software to post updates on the status of production. Writing and submitting work orders.
Performing preventative maintenance on department related machinery to ensure functionality and longevity.
Conducting and hosting meetings on health and safety related topics.
Adhere to legal responsibilities of the: Occupational Health and Safety Regulations and Workers Compensation, and Act Food Health and Safety Regulations.
Qualifications and Requirements
3 years or more of experience working in a food manufacturing environment
Working level of proficiency in English linguistic and numerical skills
Ability to coordinate, lead, and supervise a team
Detail-oriented, deadline driven, and adaptable in a fast-paced work environment
Intermediate Computer skills
Perform adequate inspections of food processing and food inspection equipment
Ability work flexible hours, which may include some evening and weekends.
Work Conditions
Stand and walk for extended periods of time
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs
Work in fluctuating hot and cold temperatures, grease and oils, and hot and cold environment (objects/surfaces/substances, humid environment, loud noise level and outside weather).
Exposed to chemicals, and electrical and mechanical power: equipment/tools, and elevated levels.
